I am writing in support of Karla Hult's candidacy for the Minnesota Senate from District 50. 

The first time I met Karla I realized she was a woman of great substance, passionate commitments, and an intellect as big as her heart. My respect for her has only deepened over time.  From supporting the journeys of family members with Alzheimer's to advocacy on behalf of underserved and marginalized communities, Karla sees everyone she meets as a neighbor and all of us as her community. Her professional career as a journalist with numerous honors and awards says as much about her ability to listen as it does about her writing skills. Every conversation she has, in my experience,  results in a deeper understanding of who we are and what we need.

I found myself aligned with every one of her values, which all related to serving people, especially people who had often been passed over. She even stood up to bullies in middle school, a forecast of the courage to come. Her support of quality education is deep and life long. Her priorities might be summed up in the old Superman slogan--truth, justice, and the American way, that is, an America where every person is treated with dignity and respect. Fighting to safeguard our rights and our democracy is her first order of business, without which all the rest might crumble.
