“Karla Hult was born to serve people and her time has come. We have an open seat in Senate District 50 for a new State Senator and Karla Hult is a great candidate for that position. She brings a wealth of valuable experience and wisdom to the world of state politics. Additionally, she has all the qualities we would want to see in a candidate, including intelligence, thoughtfulness, being highly articulate in expression of ideas and positions, warmth, compassion for people and great instincts around issues that matter most to us in Minnesota, namely family, opportunity, good schools, a place people can call home and good healthcare for everyone.

We need a State Senator who is ready to protect our civil rights, stand up for democracy and voting rights, and will fight for strong public education, climate protections and access to affordable and high quality healthcare at every life stage. Karla’s background in journalism brings a persistence in research, asking the right questions and active listening - all traits that will help Karla be an effective leader at the MN Capitol and build trust with Edina and Bloomington constituents.

  • James Pierce

    Edina City Council Member

“I am proud to endorse Karla Hult for the Minnesota Senate in District 50.
Karla is different in a way that matters. You can trust her to approach every situation with intellectual honesty.
I have seen this firsthand. When confronted with a position she disagreed with, Karla took the time to understand the reasoning behind it. She was clear about how it affected her and others, but she did not distort the issue or question anyone’s motives. Instead, she asked whether we might consider a different approach in the future.
That may sound simple, but it has become increasingly rare in public life.
Intellectual honesty does not require avoiding disagreement. It means making a genuine effort to understand another person’s position, being honest about where you disagree and remaining willing to work together toward a better outcome.
Public service requires conviction. It also requires fairness, sound judgment and the ability to maintain productive relationships through disagreement.
I trust Karla to bring those qualities to the Minnesota Senate, and I am proud to support her campaign to represent Senate District 50.”

As a journalist, advocate, and mom, Karla has all three. I’m honored to support her, as a fellow community leader, advocate, husband and father who wants the very best for our future.”

  • Richard Thieme

Respected leader, professional speaker and acclaimed author best known for the Mobius Trilogy.

I am writing in support of Karla Hult's candidacy for the Minnesota Senate from District 50.

The first time I met Karla I realized she was a woman of great substance, passionate commitments, and an intellect as big as her heart. My respect for her has only deepened over time.  From supporting the journeys of family members with Alzheimer's to advocacy on behalf of underserved and marginalized communities, Karla sees everyone she meets as a neighbor and all of us as her community. Her professional career as a journalist with numerous honors and awards says as much about her ability to listen as it does about her writing skills. Every conversation she has, in my experience,  results in a deeper understanding of who we are and what we need.

I found myself aligned with every one of her values, which all related to serving people, especially people who had often been passed over. She even stood up to bullies in middle school, a forecast of the courage to come. Her support of quality education is deep and life long. Her priorities might be summed up in the old Superman slogan--truth, justice, and the American way, that is, an America where every person is treated with dignity and respect. Fighting to safeguard our rights and our democracy is her first order of business, without which all the rest might crumble. Karla is a strong, articulate, passionate defender of those rights and freedoms.

To put it simply, Karla Hult would be a terrific senator fighting for us and our cherished values. I decided to write this letter when I looked over a crowded field of candidates and realized how much she stood out. We cannot do better than vote for Karla Hult to represent us.

Karla is also a strong advocate for those experiencing displacement and for families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias, pairing empathy with action. She has the integrity, intelligence, and heart to serve with distinction, and I’m confident she’ll deliver meaningful results for our community and state.”

“Our democracy is under assault, and the Trump regime is delivering extraordinary wealth to a few, with great hardships for the many. • Patty Acomb

    Representative, District 45B

"I'm pleased to endorse Karla Hult for the Minnesota Senate. As Chair of the Climate and Energy Finance and Policy Committee, I know how critical it is to have leaders who understand that complex challenges — like our transition to a clean energy economy – require careful listening, clear communication, and a genuine willingness to seek out the right answers. Karla demonstrated exactly that when she reached out to me with thoughtful questions about state environmental issues and policies, including the urgent threat to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and the need for strong environmental guardrails as data centers attempt to rapidly expand across our state. That kind of intellectual curiosity and humility is rare, and it's exactly what we need in the Senate.

Karla's decades as a journalist give her a unique ability to cut through complexity, find common ground, and tell the stories that matter to everyday Minnesotans. Her advocacy for vulnerable communities – from families experiencing homelessness to those navigating the heartbreak of Alzheimer's – reflects a deep commitment to people-first public service.

I'm proud to support Karla Hult for Senate District 50. She will be a strong voice for our environment, our communities, and the future we all want to build together."

Karla asks the right questions, reaches across every community, and treats people with genuine kindness and respect. Those qualities are exactly what we need at the Capitol right now.
